Elizabeth Taylor’s house for sale for $8,6 million

The longtime Bel-Air residence of screen legend Elizabeth Taylor is available for the first time in 30 years. According to a press release issued by Mossler Properties, the realtor in charge of selling the estate.

Owned by the actress since 1981, the immaculate ranch house was a much-loved refuge. “It was the focal point for the family and where we all gathered, especially at Thanksgiving and Easter,” says her son Christopher Wilding. “She never entertained the notion of moving.”

The approx. 7,000-square-foot house hidden by mature foliage sits on 1.27 acres at the top of a long driveway. The spacious living room opens to a den and dining room, all with access to the outdoor terrace and mosaic tile pool. The master bedroom, with high ceilings and walls upholstered in her signature violet, encompasses a large part of the second floor and has treetop views over the city.

The actress, philanthropist and businesswoman, who passed away March 23, added her own sure touches to the 1960s home, which was once owned by Nancy Sinatra Sr. Her superb collection of Impressionist art included works by van Gogh, Degas, Renoir and Pissarro that served as the backdrop to rooms filled with orchids, family photographs, awards and personal memorabilia.

The grounds include an English garden and lawn, a koi pond with waterfall, a hothouse, and a lush “jungle” planted with towering bamboo and palm trees. “She loved the eagle’s nest quality of her bedroom surrounded by nature and the contrast of the wildness with the English flowers,” adds Christopher Wilding. “And she was very hands-on with the gardening—she wanted color in the garden year-round.”

$42.000.000 for Jennifer Aniston’s home

Yes, you read that right, and no, I didn’t put in a zero too many……..

Jennifer Aniston is selling her house in, where else, Beverly Hills California and listed it for a heart stopping 42 million dollars. For that you get a lot, but seriously.. $42.000.000? Is it honestly worth that much? Or does it help that Jen is the seller?

The house is massive, and has gorgeous views. It sits on nearly an acre of land and measures around 10,000 square feet with a total of 5 bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms including the staff suite and expansive master bedroom suite with two spa like bathrooms. And to imagine that Miss Aniston is very very single. Maybe that’s why she is moving? 5 bedrooms and 7,5 bathrooms (a half bathroom in Americano speak means just a loo) might be pushing it a bit on your own?

Rumour has it, she is buying three new homes, all in NYC. They are now listed separately, but are adjacent so can be joined and remodeled into one big apartment.

Minister Steps In To Save Ringo Starrs Old Home

The Government has stepped in to temporarily save the house where Ringo Starr began his life in Liverpool.

Ringo Starrs birth home in Liverpool under threat

The ex-Beatles’ drummer, real name Richard Starkey, was born at 9 Madryn Street in July 1940 and lived there until he was four years old. It is one of 445 pre-1919 terraced houses in the Dingle’s Welsh Streets neighbourhood facing demolition under plans to regenerate the area. A nearby property, 10 Admiral Grove, where Ringo lived for 20 years, will remain standing. English Heritage has twice declined an application to list 9 Madryn Street, saying it is not associated with the success of the Beatles and is not of suffcient architectural or historic importance.

Liverpool City Council has said it would be “impractical” to retain the property on its own as it is in the centre of a terrace. Officials had been set to approve plans to bulldoze the dilapidated properties at a meeting on Tuesday. However, an email and letter sent by Housing Minister Grant Shapps at the 11th hour has forced them to delay making a decision. In the letter, Mr Shapps said there must first consider whether an Environmental Impact Assessment was required – a move that could mean a delay of 12 months or more.

The letter stated: “In exercise of his powers under Article 25 of the Town and Country Planning (Development Management Procedure) (England) Order 2010, the Secretary of State hereby directs your Council not to grant planning permission for this application without special authorisation.”

Mr Shapps’ intervention has been welcomed by Philip Coppell, chairman of the Save Madryn Street campaign. “Number 9 Madryn Street is irreplaceable,” he said. “It’s a precious piece of Beatles history and of vital importance to the city and its growing tourism industry.”

The Liverpool homes of John Lennon – Mendips, in Menlove Avenue – and Sir Paul McCartney – in Forthlin Road – are popular tourist attractions run by the National Trust. George Harrison’s childhood home in Arnold Grove remains is privately owned, while the Cavern Club, where the Beatles used to perform, was demolished in the 1970s.

Ben Stiller’s Hollywood Hills mansion

The hills high above seedy Hollywood Boulevard are home to many of the rich and famous we know from the celluloid screen. Often these houses read like a  history timeline of Hollywood by virtue of their famous owners. It is not uncommon for a home to go from one movie star hand to another. If this is the case with Ben Stiller’s compound is not sure. But boy is it impressive!

It was on the market for $12.500.000 last year but withdrawn. Now it’s back after a $1000.000 price drop for $11.495.000. The listing describes it as follows:

Step through the gates of this walled compound and into the crown jewel of Outpost Estates. Two separate homes flank close to an acre of lushly landscaped grounds that rival the Bel Air Hotel. To the south sits a 1929 authentic Spanish meticulously restored and sensitively updated by design team Roman & Williams based in New York, to the north a stunning Mediterranean redefined with a Contemporary point of view. A 1 br guest house, a magnificent pool, outdoor dining/living areas and a beautiful grassy yard complete this extraordinary estate.
