Mazzeto Blanco ‘fireplace’.

This wonderfully designed wall mounted bioalcohol fireplace caught my eye.
It is kitsch and sleek at the same time, making it timeless already.

Mazzeto Blanco by Redwitz

It’s designed by German design duo Redwitz, headed by Sylvia and Lukas Redwitz. Their own website describes their work as follows:

Sylvia and Lukas Redwitz design objects deeply rooted in the tradition of their craft while using their very own language of form. Their aim is to always seize the essence of an object. The two designers are concerned with the entire process of making: from the concept and design of an object to its production and finishing. Due to this creative process their unique style is developed: minimal and distinct.

Floating lamp shade

LOS#1

Dutch design company Crealev is renowned for their levitation technique. With this technique, objects can float in mid-air. They introduced it in 2007 and have since further developed and refined it. The company now introduces LOS! It is the design old classical lamp in contrast with this modern technology.

My favourite sofa

As a kid I used to love the Jan Jans en de Kinderen comics. Non-Dutchies have no idea what I am talking about, but trust me; funny and recognizable stuff! The characters in the comic were often portrayed sitting on the family sofa. A modern, simple and stylish sofa  without arm rests and without any frills. I loved that sofa, and decided I wanted one when I grew up.

Imagine my surprise when I found out that it was likely inspired on a real Dutch design. The BR.02.7 sofa by Martin Visser. It was designed back in 1960 and is still being made. I love the simple lines and airy design. The style of our house and decor might not suit it anymore, but I would still love to own one….

Sadly, the designer died in 2009.
