Mayor Bloomberg’s decorator spills the beans

New York City Mayor and billionaire Michael Bloomberg has always been keen not to share too much about his home and private life. It’s must bug him that his interior decorator posted photo’s of two of his homes on his website.. for the whole world to see. An editor of the New York Times revealed the photographs. The images have since been taken down but too late to prevent several online posts including this one. Might I say; what tacky an interior this is? I’d expect a bit more class or at least a little less zoo from the Bloombergs considering their conservative dress sense……

Charlie Sheen’s old home

Running behind a bit as it was on the market back in 2009, but I found these pics of Charlie Sheen’s former home on Hooked on Houses. I really like the decor bar the dining room chairs. Those I do NOT like. Love the study however. Very inspiring as I am currently researching a possible redecorating of my own study.

Charlie Sheen's old home

Love the vaulted ceiling with the beams!

Yep, pretty much perfect sitting room.....

Not a big fan of the chairs, to say the least...

I absolutely love this study.....

This house looks like it was decorated by Jon Hutman and Beth Rubino who team up frequently to style the movies of Nancy Meyer.

Taylor Swifts historic Nashville mansion

American country singer Taylor Swift paid $2,5 million for this wonderful historic Southern Belle. A bargain, insult almost, compared to the prices in the greater Los Angeles area! The home, known as Northumberland Estate  was built in the 1930s for  Guilford Dudley, Jr, who was an ambassador for the USA in Denmark. The house is a perfect example of 20th-century Southern architecture. It used to sit on hundreds of acres but the land has been subdivided since.

The sellers are Universal Music Group chairman Luke Lewis and his wife, Lauren. The couple hired renowned architect Manuel Zeitlin when they bought the home to turn it into their dream home. They sure managed to maintain its historic integrity. I truly hope Taylor Swift has the same eye for historic value and will treat this wonderful home with the respect it deserves.

Foyer of Taylor Swift's new Nashville Home. I love the mirror slates

The lounge. The black (or is it dark blue?) walls are a magnificent touch. I love how it gives it a very classical and dramatic feel.

Now there's a library! Love the chairs!

Barbie´s new career, and her new home to boast..

Barbie, yes, that Barbie, has switched careers. Mattel’s latest addition to their Barbie I Can Be line of dolls is Barbie Architect, complete with a blueprint holder (in pink, obviously), builder hat, and black smart-looking glasses. Mattel partnered with members of the American Institute of Architects to make sure her outfit reflects that of what a real architect would wear. (erhm… OK….)

That same partnership resulted in a competition for Barbie’s new dream home.

The design brief was written in “Barbie’s voice.” It includes phrases like “I love to entertain,” and “as the original fashionista, you can imagine how large my closet needs to be!”

Barbie's new home designed by Ting Li and Maja Paklar

The lucky winners are Ting Li and Maja Paklar who hope to “encourage more young female architects to flex their design muscles.” I must say, playing with Barbie as a kid myself sparked my interest in interior design too! I never actually played with the dolls but by god, her home was always perfect!
