Diane von Furstenberg’s Manhattan rooftop studio

Inventor of the much appreciated wrap around dress, American Diane von Furstenberg Studio’s recently moved all her business ventures into one building. The new headquarters fit perfectly in New York City’s fashionable Meatpacking District. The six-story building has been beautifully restored in keep with the surrounding buildings. But once inside be prepared to be surprised. The center of the building consists of one gigantuous stairway slicing the building diagonally past all floors. One corner of the structure is topped by an Olot, Spain-made faceted glass sphere that is part of the penthouse suite.

Basically, von Furstenberg wanted to bring together her business’s activities in one building that would include a flagship store on the street level, a 5,000-square-foot showroom and event area, along with office space for 120, plus her own office and living quarters. How’s that for working from home?

New York based architecture firm Work Architecture Company (WORKac) was in charge of the renovation and design.

Marilyn Monroe’s old House For Sale

I picked up this story on Hooked on Houses.

Marilyn Monroe would be in her 80’s today. The uber star died at the tender age of 36 nearly 5 decades ago. She was found dead in the bedroom of her modest Brentwood Los Angeles bungalow. The house is still considered a shrine for fans because it was the last house she lived in. The current owners have put it on the market which is big news in Hollywood.

Marilyn in the window in the den of her Brentwood home. Now for sale

The house was previously often sold through the grapevine only so it’s been a while since we were allowed a glimpse inside.

Marilyn Monroe's old home

Marilyn Monroe's old home

The Spanish Revival home was built in 1929.  It’s not too big, with 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, and about 2,600 square feet, and has a very modest feel to it. This was exactly what appealed to Mrs Monroe when she bought it shortly before she died for $90,000. It looks like from a picture book and oozes charm and comfort.I love it as it reminds me of a lovely little Bed & Breakfast in Palm Springs we once stayed in

Living room

The house is currently on the market for $3,595,000. That is quite steep but the area is very exclusive and neighbours are Hollywood stars like Roseanne, Jim Carrey, Ben Affleck & Jennifer Gardner and Cindy Crawford.

Another sitting room. Looks like this could be the window the black and white portrait above was taken in.

Loving the movie-lie kitchen

The realtors website is very hush-hush about it, but surely gets quite a few extra clicks.

350 square feet turns into 20 different rooms

Hong Kong’s most in demand commodity is space. It is not uncommon for families sharing an apartment of 350 square feet or smaller, often with a tenant occupying one of the rooms too. But living in area’s that small call for creative solutions. Hong Kong based designer Gary Chang decided to transform his tiny flat in a stylish studio that has room for a library, a walk in wardrobe, a kitchen, a guest bed, a bathroom with tub, and much more. Making use of sliding walls, he can transform the place into 20 different rooms.

Katie Price´s pad on the market

Vixen bombshell Katie Price, aka Jordan, has put her Surrey Mansion on the market. Her house is like her body. Over the top, tacky, plenty of fake, once pretty on the outside but hideous on the inside. Oh, and without so much as a hint of class. I am very sorry but I think Jordan is the mother of all that has no taste nor brain and she should be banned from the public eye.

The house is yours for £2,950,000.

Jordan´s house. Worked on too many times and still looks crap, just like her.
