With the weather getting better we start planning where to go on holiday this summer. They say there is a crisis so why not go camping? It’s cheap, fun and it is actually very much accepté! Make it a glamping trip and spend what you save by camping on one of these cool tents!

A tent shaped like the mother of all camping items; the Volkswagen Van! Available through firebox.com.

For the price of what an average tent at Field Candy costs you can ‘buy’ a night in this inflatable Bubble Tree. For a mere £400 a night, tourists can spend an evening in one of these inflatable ‘tents’. Created by French designer Pierre Stephane Dumas, the structures are designed to get people as close to nature as possible… Downside is that other people are very close to you too….

Shake hands with the door handle

Open the door by shaking hands with it! I love this door handle. Unfortunately is has a typical designer name as it’s called Door Hand-le, which puts a bit of a tacky stamp on the design. Maybe just for one door? Or a cupboard?

It is designed Naomi Thellier de Poncheville and available through her website.

Illuminated bed Poesy

With this bed you don’t need a night lamp by your bed anymore. It is illuminated!
It changes colour and can be programmed to wake you up too! It was designed by Philippe Boulet, a young French designer who caught the attention of Philippe Starck when he was still in art school. He already won several important awards for his designs. The bed is called Poesy and costs around €6877

Iconic Dutch architecture inspires Hotel in Zaandam

Check out this interesting hotel design by Dutch architecture firm WAM architecten. The design looks like a pile of typical green wooden houses stacked on top of each other. It’s the new Inntel Hotel Amsterdam in Zaandam, a town North of Amsterdam. The 4-star hotel has 160 rooms and a total of 11 floors.
