Cartoon-like home in Thailand cost just $8.000 to build!

It reminded me of the Maison Bulles house for Pierre Cardin on the French south coast. And it reminded me of another real live version of the Flinstones’ home. Either way, this is a clever piece of work. The owner built this wonderful little home for as little as $8.000. His name is Steve Areen, once a flight attendant for Delta, now non conventional entrepeneur making money with music, photography, blogging and, as this project shows, by saving money on living costs. He used materials sources from the local area and did most of the work himself saving on labour costs. It took him only 6 weeks nonetheless.

Have a yabbadabbadoo time in this house in Malibu!

Had to post this. It’s been done before for sure, or at least contemplated, and I still think the architects of Maison Bulles in Théoule-sur-Mer France were inspired by the Flinstones, or possibly the Jetsons. But never have I seen a house so in keep with the theme as this one. It’s in Malibu, off course it is. TV host Dick Clark  decided to put it on the market shortly before his death in April this year. My guess is that the asking price of ‘only’ $3,500,000 is because it is not everybody’s taste. Cause if it is, and you’re rich, than the house with its magical ocean views is yours for a price well under what the neighbours paid!

Iconic Dutch architecture inspires Hotel in Zaandam

Check out this interesting hotel design by Dutch architecture firm WAM architecten. The design looks like a pile of typical green wooden houses stacked on top of each other. It’s the new Inntel Hotel Amsterdam in Zaandam, a town North of Amsterdam. The 4-star hotel has 160 rooms and a total of 11 floors.

What do you think?

Living in a shoe

As kids we all grew up with stories of fairytale creatures or characters living in shoe shaped houses. I personally must have drawn at least a 100 pictures of such homes. And I remember a girl in my school having a doll sized shoe house. I was intensely jealous of her for that.

For some of us a drawing or doll size version wasn’t enough… nor did they outgrow their fetish as an adult as the images below prove.
