Famous Wisseloord Studio’s restyled by the Huizenfee

Remember my earlier post about ‘De Huizenfee‘, the Home Fairy? She recently sent me these pictures of her work in the famous Wisseloord Studio’s in Hilversum, the Netherlands. These studio’s were set up by Philips in 1978 to record albums for their record label. Many famous people made use of the facilities including Elton John, ELO, The Rolling Stones, the Police and the late Michael Jackson. The studio recently underwent big renovations and that called for a new interior too. De Huizenfee and her magic wand were called to decorate. An architect provided the blank slate. Ikea, vintage design, one off’s and some amazing pieces from the old interior, together with the magic touch of de Huizenfee provided the ingredients for the final result. Great work!

I passed!

Hurray! Yesterday the mail came bringing good news. My diploma interior design. I took a crash course from January to June this year, to rekindle my spark for interior design.

Have a look at my presentation for the final exam. Mind you, this was a given assignment. Redesign the ground floor of a 30’s villa for a gay couple in their forties with a love for bold colours. I am particularly proud of the 3D drawings.

Folded paper interiors by Simon Schubert

German artist Simon Schubert creates these amazing folded paper illustrations. They look like you could step right into them! Mind you; each is just one single sheet of paper! It’s the folds that create the depth and illusion. It took him a wee bit of practise and some illustrations take about a week to complete.

Hipster birdhouse inspired by 50’s caravan

How cool is this birdhouse? I know!

It’s inspired by the Shasta caravans of the 1950’s. There are many different models available through Jumahl‘s Etsy store.
