What does the house of design expert Nate berkus look like?

Design guru Nate Berkus, of Oprah Winfrey fame, can look back, and likely forward, on a magnificent career in Interior Design. Since he started his own company in 1995, he designed some of the most prestigious interiors in the United States and abroad. After Oprah picked him up to be the design expert on her show, there was no holding back. Nate is an established name in the world of interiors. And he is cute too…

Ever wondered how this talented guy would decorate his own home? Well, we’re in luck as he recently put his Chicago condo on the market. Lot’s of stunning images to gawk at!

I love how the house looks accidentally fabulous as opposed to designed. What do you think?

Thanks Elle Decor for the images and Hookedonhouses for the original post!

Anthropologie, amazing home accessories from the USA now in Europe and online!

On a recent trip to Edinburgh we stumbled across a fantastic shop called Anthropologie. This American chain of stores recently opened their doors in Europe with two shops in London and one in Edinburgh. They sell women’s clothes that, with my modest knowledge, are a bit too gypsy-ish and ‘oh look at me getting it and reading books and being clever‘, but their home deco stuff was simply put a-ma-zing! I walked around wanting to buy pretty much everything. It’s hard to define or to label what style, but bohemian, retro, kitsch, quirky, edgy, French and classy all spring to mind.

They have a well stocked online shop and the good news is they deliver pretty much all over Europe from their EU site! So that little vase that I couldn’t bring due to Easyjet’s one bag only policy can be making its way to me anytime soon!

Curvy Chrysanthemum Vase, €28.00

Fleeting Apparition Jug, €378.00

Stellata Rug in three sizes between 2,5 and 8 feet round From €82.00 - €416.00

Mayor Bloomberg’s decorator spills the beans

New York City Mayor and billionaire Michael Bloomberg has always been keen not to share too much about his home and private life. It’s must bug him that his interior decorator posted photo’s of two of his homes on his website.. for the whole world to see. An editor of the New York Times revealed the photographs. The images have since been taken down but too late to prevent several online posts including this one. Might I say; what tacky an interior this is? I’d expect a bit more class or at least a little less zoo from the Bloombergs considering their conservative dress sense……

Arjan’s apartment journey

Loyal Homevoyeurs aficionado Arjan took an apartment journey too. The day after I posted about my own, he took up the challenge and captured bits and pieces of his own home. Arjan doesn’t have an iPhone, therefore also doesn’t have the Hipstamatic app so the pictures are crystal clear. Maybe a bit too calculated too as the objects pictured are all high-end design pieces. The purpose was to find beauty in the unusual, the accidental or the overlooked, but the result is striking nonetheless.  The marble table pictures in the forefront of the image with the red Arne Jacobson Egg chair is a  rare Porsgrunn Poul Kjaerholm PK61 table. More about that in a later post!

If you are inspired by Arjan’s home, you might like this book about Arne Jacobson. It’s on sale now for $29,70 in the Homevoyeurs webshop.
