Have a yabbadabbadoo time in this house in Malibu!

Had to post this. It’s been done before for sure, or at least contemplated, and I still think the architects of Maison Bulles in Théoule-sur-Mer France were inspired by the Flinstones, or possibly the Jetsons. But never have I seen a house so in keep with the theme as this one. It’s in Malibu, off course it is. TV host Dick Clark  decided to put it on the market shortly before his death in April this year. My guess is that the asking price of ‘only’ $3,500,000 is because it is not everybody’s taste. Cause if it is, and you’re rich, than the house with its magical ocean views is yours for a price well under what the neighbours paid!

American abandoned houses

There is something eerie about abandoned homes. Especially if parts of the inhabited past is still there, like furniture, curtains or other traces of the times when people called it home. Photographer Kevin Baumann photographed a 100 of them. Each of them with a story that the spectator is left to guess or fantasize about. Was it the crunch that drove the occupants away? Or did they die alone with no family left to take care of their homes? I love this series.

Famous Wisseloord Studio’s restyled by the Huizenfee

Remember my earlier post about ‘De Huizenfee‘, the Home Fairy? She recently sent me these pictures of her work in the famous Wisseloord Studio’s in Hilversum, the Netherlands. These studio’s were set up by Philips in 1978 to record albums for their record label. Many famous people made use of the facilities including Elton John, ELO, The Rolling Stones, the Police and the late Michael Jackson. The studio recently underwent big renovations and that called for a new interior too. De Huizenfee and her magic wand were called to decorate. An architect provided the blank slate. Ikea, vintage design, one off’s and some amazing pieces from the old interior, together with the magic touch of de Huizenfee provided the ingredients for the final result. Great work!

Folded paper interiors by Simon Schubert

German artist Simon Schubert creates these amazing folded paper illustrations. They look like you could step right into them! Mind you; each is just one single sheet of paper! It’s the folds that create the depth and illusion. It took him a wee bit of practise and some illustrations take about a week to complete.
